The Journey Behind the Work
About me
My name is Emilee. I’m in my 30s, I have a 6-year-old son, and I live on the Central Coast, NSW.
My work in operations, business support, and grant writing is deeply shaped by both my professional experience and personal journey.
A few years ago, I went through a serious health experience with rheumatoid arthritis that became life-threatening while I was also navigating new motherhood. During this time, I experienced significant joint damage, loss of mobility and chronic pain.
That period reshaped how I view work, support and resilience.
It gave me a deep understanding of what it feels like to be overwhelmed, to lose capacity and to rely on systems and support to keep life and work functioning.
My professional background
Over 13 years I've worked across operations, bookkeeping, administration, coordination, and education roles.
A significant part of my career was with a national environmental charity, where I progressed into grant writing and grant management roles. In this work, I contributed to securing over $1 million annually in funding, supporting programs focused on conservation and community impact.
Alongside this, I also developed strong experience in stakeholder communication, donor and client management, volunteer coordination, systems development, and operational support.
My broader experience includes:
-
Bookkeeping and financial administration, including invoicing, reconciliations, reporting support, and budget creation
-
Customer service and account management, with a focus on client communication and relationship management
-
CRM and database set-up and management, and systems organisation
-
Program, project, and operational coordination across multiple stakeholders
-
Volunteer coordination, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and training support
I also hold an Associate Degree of Science from the University of Newcastle and a Certificate III in Business Administration (Bookkeeping), which has supported my work across both financial and operational functions.
Why I do this
What I love most is bringing order to busy environments, completing tasks, and supporting people with big ideas who find the day-to-day overwhelming. I feel like I’ve done a good job when my client feels that a weight has lifted off their shoulders.
